Beyond the vine rows, Château La Garde is home to a remarkable ecosystem. Its pond, stream, woodland and hedgerows shelter an abundance of flora and fauna. In 2022, surveys recorded 56 bird species (including 17 protected), 33 species of butterflies, 17 dragonflies, 10 bat species and 5 types of amphibians.
To explore this natural heritage, Château La Garde has designed a Grandeur Nature trail in partnership with La Bulle Verte. This immersive walk, guided by your smartphone, takes you through eleven observation points identified by the Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux (LPO), offering a deeper understanding of the vineyard’s biodiversity. The visit ends with a tasting of three Château La Garde wines.
2. A state-of-the-art vat room bathed in light
The vat room at Château La Garde was designed in perfect harmony with the historic chartreuse, enhancing its beauty. Its large picture windows, open onto the surrounding landscape, flood the space with natural light, reflecting the spirit of the estate.
Inaugurated in 2021, this contemporary facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology for highly precise parcel-by-parcel vinification. During your visit, you may see the technical team at work, carefully crafting our Pessac-Léognan wines.
Château La Garde is not just a vineyard; it is also a place of life and sharing. Throughout the year, the estate hosts concerts, brunches, open-air cinema screenings, cookery classes and more. The salons and gardens come alive with events that bring together wine lovers and epicureans in a warm, convivial atmosphere.
Cinema holds a special place here. As an official partner of the César Awards and a patron of the Académie des César, Château La Garde has long embraced moments that celebrate the seventh art.
To grasp the subtle art of blending, Château La Garde offers a truly original tasting workshop. Through the six wines of the Mosaïc de La Garde range, visitors can explore the richness of the estate’s 27 soil types and their influence on Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. A fascinating experience for both wine enthusiasts and the simply curious.
Step back in time with a stay at the Château La Garde guest house. This splendid 18th-century chartreuse, set in the heart of the vineyard, offers a haven of tranquillity just a stone’s throw from Bordeaux.
Three refined rooms and suites welcome guests: La Suite Mosaïc, with its private terrace and calming green tones; La Suite Terrasse, bathed in natural light and decorated in warm golden shades; and La Chambre Grandeur Nature, more intimate, blending stone walls and bohemian touches, ideal for a family stay.
Our passionate team looks forward to welcoming you and sharing the singular character of Château La Garde. Whether you are a wine lover, a nature enthusiast or simply seeking an authentic wine experience near Bordeaux, your next discovery awaits here.
